HOW?
To use the Ring, you must log into Second Life using a viewer compatible with Marine Kelley's Restrained Love Viewer (RLV).  These include Phoenix, CoolViewer, Emergence and others.  You then simply wear the Ring anywhere on your body (left hand is default) or even attached to your HUD.  The Ring has no RLV functions other than dress/undress, so you will not be subject to RLV traps or any denials of your abilities.  (Please note that any other RLV items you might be wearing WILL be subject to normal RLV controls; your care in setting those safely is up to you.)

PREPARATION--THE #RLV FOLDER
1.  The Dresser Ring utilizes the #RLV folder scheme common to all RLV devices.  If you do not currently have a #RLV folder, create one at the top level of your Inventory.

2.  Immediately under #RLV, create a new folder called #Outfits.  Regardless of any other folders you have in #RLV, all items to be accessed by the Ring MUST
be underneath this #Outfits folder.  (So, you can also have items in #RLV that you can use with other RLV devices, but that you do not want accessible via the Ring.)

3.  Now, either drag folders of your outfits into #Outfits, or create new folders and drag (or copy/paste) items into them.  You might want to create several folders per outfit, which will allow for a longer, more intimate dressing experience.  For example:
Folder 1:  lingerie
Folder 2:  top and skirt
Folder 3:  shoes
Folder 4:  large prim skirt
Folder 5:  jewelry and accessories

4.  The Ring will not recognize subfolders within the folders you create, EXCEPT to accommodate No Modify attachments (see below).

USE
The use of the Ring is the same, whether you are testing it yourself or with someone else:

1.  Click the Ring with your mouse.  OR (especially if the Ring is hidden under your clothes or if you've hidden it somewhere on purpose) simply type in the Chat box "/14##dress" where "##" are your initials.  (If your name is Queen Elizabeth, you would type "/14qedress".)

NOTE: you can change the prefix to something besides your initials.  Just type /14prefix %%% where "%%%" is what you want.  Handy if your sub or a friend has the same initials you do.  (For example, /14prefix qe2 would change the activation command to /14qe2dress.)

2.  If someone else did the above, then you will get a blue box asking you to ALLOW or DENY permission for them to dress you.  Click ALLOW to continue.
3.  Your dresser will now get a blue box showing FOLDERS and UNDRESS buttons.  UNDRESS will let your dresser take things off your body in batches or one at a time.

3.  Your dresser will now get a blue box showing FOLDERS and buttons.  UNDRESS will let your dresser take things off your body in batches or one at a time.

4.  When your dresser clicks FOLDERS, s/he will be presented with the first page of Outfit buttons. Each one is numbered, with the number keyed to the list of Folder Names above the buttons.  That list will also show if the folder is [Worn] [Unworn] or [Partial Worn].  There may be buttons like "Page 2" and "Page 3" if you have a large number of Folders.

5.  When your dresser clicks an outfit button, s/he will get a choice of WEAR (put on everything in the folder), REMOVE (take off anything in the folder that you're wearing), or BACK (up one menu level).  Operation is quite intuitive at this point, but if your dresser makes a mistake or you change your mind, the REMOVE button will be right there to take it off you again.  (This can be the most fun of all.)

HINTS AND QUIRKS

6.  You can put lots of folders under #Outfits.  However, RLV places a limit on the total number of characters used in all of the folder names, so if the ring returns an error when you first try to use it, drag a few folders out of #Outfits and try again.  If the error goes away, then go back and RENAME folders with shorter names.  Twenty to thirty folders can be done easily.

7.  The Ring has the same issues with NO MODIFY attachments that any other RLV device has, so it requires the same workaround of placing items in folders with special names which give the Viewer the attachment point.  Examples of such folder names are .(l lower leg) or .(left foot).

(Get much more information right from the source.  Marine Kelley's #RLV Tutorial including pictures of her #RLV Folder is at
http://realrestraint.blogspot.com/2008/08/objects-sharing-tutorial.html?zx=713c9cfcddb54b8b .)

8.  A suggestion for naming your folders: if you break one outfit into several folders, start the folder names with the same 2 letter code.  (For example, "D1" would be Dress 1.)  Follow that with -#-, so three folders to make up that dress would be -1-, -2-, -3-.  After that, a short name of the dress.  Finally, what's in the folder, like "Top" or "Skirt".  So our above example might be:

D1-1-Red Velvet Dress lingerie
D1-2-Red Velvet Dress top/skirt
D1-3-Red Velvet Dress shoes (although you might want to separate shoes out, like "S1")
D1-4 Red Velvet Dress lg prim skirt
D1-5 Red Velvet Dress jewel/acc

HAVE FUN!
The Ring can add a whole new level of enjoyment, whether in a D/s environment, historical or Gorean roleplay, fun with friends, or even when shopping!  We hope you like it as much as we do.
